Terms of service
These terms apply when you use The Vitality Review. They are written in plain language on purpose, because terms nobody can read protect nobody.
Effective 30 July 2026
1. Agreement to these terms
The Vitality Review at studies.shopoakman.com is operated by Oakman. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site. They apply to everyone who visits, including readers, researchers, clinicians, students, and the automated systems described in section 4.
2. Using the site
Who it is for. The site is written for adults and its content concerns adult men’s health. It is not directed at anyone under 18.
No account needed. You do not need to register to read anything here, and we do not offer accounts. The only information we ask for is an email address, and only if you choose to join the weekly email. What happens to it is set out in our privacy policy.
What you may not do. Please do not use the site to break the law, to infringe anyone’s rights, to interfere with how the site works or with its security, or to copy the library wholesale in order to stand up a competing database. Please also do not alter our summaries and keep our name on them, or present anything from this site as clinical advice.
3. Our content, and the research it describes
What we own. We wrote the plain-language summaries, the reader notes, the key findings, the topic structure, the site itself and its design, and we own them. The Vitality Review and Oakman names and logos are ours and may not be used without our permission.
What we do not own. We do not own the underlying research. Each study belongs to its authors and its publisher, and we link to the source so you can read it under whatever terms they set. Titles, authors, journals, years, countries and identifiers such as DOIs are facts about those papers and are presented as such. If you believe we have used your work in a way we should not have, write to oakmanhealth@gmail.com and we will deal with it promptly.
What you may do with ours. You may read, quote, teach from and share what is here, and we ask for attribution and a link back to the page you took it from. Republishing the library at scale, or building a substitute service out of it, is a different thing and is not permitted.
4. Search engines, AI assistants and research agents
Automated systems are welcome here. This library was built to be found, read, quoted and cited by search engines and AI assistants. Crawling, indexing, retrieving and quoting our pages with attribution and a link is permitted, and our llms.txt and robots file say the same thing.
We ask three things in return. Cite the page rather than stripping the source. Do not present our summaries as clinical advice or as a recommendation for the person reading. Do not imply that we endorse a product, a treatment or a brand, because nothing here does.
Requests that degrade the site for other readers are the one exception, and we may block them.
5. Health information
The site is an educational library. It summarizes published research and it is not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Using it does not create a doctor and patient relationship with anyone at The Vitality Review or Oakman, and it is not a substitute for care from a clinician who knows you. Our medical disclaimer sets this out in full and forms part of these terms.
6. Accuracy, and the fact that research moves
We work to describe every study accurately and we check our figures against the source. Even so, the site is provided as it is and as available. We do not warrant that every summary is free of error, that the library is complete, or that a finding still reflects the state of the evidence. Science changes, papers are corrected and sometimes retracted, and links break. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
Tell us when you find something wrong and we will fix it.
7. Other sites we link to
We link to journals, publishers and research databases. We do not control them, we do not endorse them, and we are not responsible for their content, their accuracy or their terms.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Oakman and the people who work on this site are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive loss arising from your use of the site or your inability to use it, or from decisions you make based on what you read here. Decisions about your health belong with you and your clinician. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law.
9. Indemnity
If your use of the site in breach of these terms causes a claim against us, you agree to cover the reasonable costs of dealing with it.
10. Access
We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the site at any time, and we may block access where these terms are being broken. The sections that should outlive that by their nature, including ownership, the disclaimers and the limitation of liability, continue to apply.
11. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of [STATE], United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules. [Dispute resolution clause to be confirmed with counsel. If arbitration is intended, it belongs here, along with any class action waiver and any right to opt out of it.]
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the current version. Where a change is material we will say so on the site.
13. Contact
Questions about these terms can go to oakmanhealth@gmail.com.
