This study found that 30 minutes at 163 degrees Fahrenheit raised heart rate, lowered blood pressure and pushed norepinephrine, prolactin and heat shock protein 72 up in healthy young adults, much the way exercise does, while a matched sit in the same chamber without the heat moved none of it. If an injury or a schedule is keeping you out of the gym, it may be worth using heat to hold on to part of that response, though this was a single session in 25 people and nobody has shown heat substitutes for training.
